For e-commerce brands

Video sells the product. Only where the shopper can follow it.

A product video answers the questions a photo cannot — how it fits, how it works, what is in the box — but only for shoppers who understand it. Octavia localizes product and how-to video across a whole catalogue in batch, with sizes, units and claims checked for each market before anything is voiced.

The problem

What gets in the way

The specific reasons this content usually stays in one language.

A catalogue is thousands of short videos

Per-video agency pricing works for a hero launch, not for a range where every SKU has its own thirty-second demo.

Sizes, units and claims change at the border

A “size 8”, a weight in pounds or a word like “waterproof” can be wrong, unclear or not permitted once the video plays on another country’s storefront.

Every marketplace has its own rules

Storefronts, marketplaces and social shops differ on length, format, captions and what may be said in a product video at all.

Capabilities

What Octavia does about it

The parts of the platform that matter for this work, rather than the full feature list.

The catalogue in batch

Submit product video by collection or SKU list through batch or the API, so the long tail gets localized rather than only the bestsellers.

Units and sizes checked, not assumed

Translated scripts are reviewed before voicing, which is where centimetres, regional sizing and local conventions are confirmed for each storefront.

Product names held

Brand, range, ingredient and material names pinned in a locked glossary, so a range name is never translated on one storefront and left alone on another.

The product still sounds right

Magic Mode keeps the music and the product sound — the click, the zip, the pour — under the new voiceover instead of replacing the bed with silence.

Captions for muted feeds

Burned-in, word-level captions for social shops and feeds that autoplay without sound; subtitle tracks for storefront players that support them.

One voice per market

A consistent professional voice per language across the catalogue, so the brand sounds like one brand rather than a different narrator on every product page.

Workflow

How it runs

Four steps from the file you already have to every language you need.

Step 01

Pick the products that sell on video

Start where returns and pre-sale questions show shoppers are not understanding the listing.

Step 02

Set the market rules

Glossary for product names, plus each market’s sizing, units and permitted claims for reviewers to check against.

Step 03

Review per storefront

An in-market reviewer approves each script before any audio is generated.

Step 04

Export per channel

Dubbed video, burned-in captions or subtitle files, depending on what each storefront and marketplace accepts.

Deliverables

What you get back

FAQ

Questions worth asking

Including the ones where the honest answer is a limitation.

Will it convert sizes, units and prices for us?

No, and you would not want it to guess. A translation renders what was said; whether “size 8” should become a different regional size, or pounds become kilograms, is a merchandising decision that depends on how you actually sell in that market. Put those decisions in the review brief and have the in-market reviewer correct the script before audio is generated. Prices are safest left out of the voiceover entirely.

What about product claims in other markets?

Claims are where a translated product video can create real exposure. “Hypoallergenic”, “organic”, “dermatologist tested” or a health benefit may be regulated differently in each market, and a faithful translation of a claim that is fine at home can be one you may not make abroad. Have each market’s claims checked by whoever approves your packaging and listings there, then lock the approved phrasings in the glossary.

Do marketplaces accept AI-voiced video?

Requirements vary by marketplace and change often — on length, format, captions, what may appear on screen and, increasingly, how synthetic media is labelled. Octavia produces the dubbed video and the caption or subtitle files; checking each marketplace’s current content policy before upload remains your job. Where a policy is unclear, a subtitled version of the original is the conservative choice.

Should we localize creator and UGC video too?

Carefully. A creator’s voice belongs to the creator, and most UGC and influencer licences cover reposting the video, not producing a version in which they appear to speak another language. Subtitle creator content by default, and voice it only where the creator has agreed in writing for those markets. Your own brand-produced video carries none of that complication, which makes it the better place to start.
